How to change the default RDP port in Windows
How to change the RDP port (Remote Desktop)
- As the administrator user, run the Registry Editor (regedit).
- Open the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp.
- Change the PortNumber value in decimal format (the default RDP port is 3389)
- Allow access to the new RDP port in Windows Firewall. For example, if you set port 45232, run the following commands to allow access to it:
netsh firewall add portopening TCP 45232 MyNewRDP enable all
netsh firewall add portopening UDP 45232 MyNewRDP enable all - Reboot the server
- When connecting to the server, specify the new port after the IP, separated by a colon. For example, if your server's IP is xx.xx.xx.xx and the new port is 45232, connect to xx.xx.xx.xx:45232
