What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

2FA is an additional layer of security that protects your client area from unauthorized access. With 2FA enabled, to log in to the client area you need to enter not only your password (something you "know") but also a one-time code generated by a special app on your mobile phone (something you "have"). This way, access requires two mandatory factors at once: knowing the password and having the phone with the one-time code app.

Why do I need two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Passwords by themselves are not very secure. They can be spied on, stolen, guessed, phished, brute-forced, overheard or obtained in some other way. In addition, users rarely change their passwords and often use the same password on different sites, so an attacker who obtains it can gain access to all those sites at once. 2FA provides extra protection, because logging in to the client area now requires not only knowing your password but also having access to the app on your phone.

How does it work?

The system is very simple and highly reliable. A special app that generates one-time passwords from a secret key is installed on your phone. One-time passwords are unique and are generated every 30 seconds. To log in to the client area, after entering your login and password you need to enter the one-time code generated by this app. Only your phone can generate the code, and the one-time password is different every time, so your account is safe.

What happens if I lose my phone or the password app stops working?

When you activate 2FA, you will receive a special 16-digit backup code to use for emergency login. Write this code down on paper and keep it in a safe place. If you lose both your phone and the backup code, 2FA can only be disabled through technical support by providing a copy of the account owner's passport.

Which app should I install on my phone?

You can use the standard Google Authenticator (Android version on Google Play, iOS version on the App Store) or andOTP (supports backing up your keys)

How to enable two-factor authentication:

1. In the client area, go to My Details in the top menu -> the Security Settings tab

2. Click the "Click to Enable" button, then the "Get Started" button

3. Open Google Authenticator (or another app you use for OTP passwords) on your phone and scan the QR code (you can also enter the key into the app manually). Once the app has successfully added the new account and generated a code for it, click the "Confirm" button

4. Enter the one-time code generated by the app and click Confirm. Make sure you click "Confirm" before the app generates a new code!

5. If the code was entered correctly and in time, you will see a notification that two-factor authentication for logging in to your client area has been successfully activated. Be sure to save your "Backup Code": you will need it to log in to your account if you do not have access to your phone. We recommend writing it down on paper and keeping it in a safe place:

How to disable two-factor authentication

1. In the client area, go to My Details -> the Security Settings tab
2. Click the "Click to Disable" button
3. To confirm, enter your current client area password

What should I do if I do not have access to my phone? How do I log in to the client area?

1. Click the "Can't access your device? Log in with a backup code" link below the one-time password form
2. Enter your "Backup Code" (the one you wrote down on paper when activating 2FA and keep in a safe place):
3. If the code is correct, you will see a notification with a new "Backup Code". Be sure to write it down and keep it instead of the old one
4. If you do not remember your Backup Code, create a support request asking to disable 2FA for your account and attach a copy of your passport to the request
