By default, Windows Firewall is enabled and protects all ports of your VDS. If you need to allow access to a specific port on your server, you have to create a corresponding allow rule. Of course, you need to know exactly which port has to be opened.
The simplest and quickest way to add a firewall exception for a single port:
Start -> Run -> cmd -> OK.
Then run the following command in the console window that opens:
netsh firewall add portopening TCP 80 HTTP enable all
This example opens port 80, and the new rule will be named "HTTP". Replace 80 with the number of the port you want to allow access to, and HTTP with the name of the rule you are creating. If the name contains spaces, it must be enclosed in quotes, for example "My CS server".
You can disable the built-in firewall completely (we strongly advise against it; you alone bear full responsibility for any possible consequences and risks) by running the command
netsh firewall set opmode disable
To view the current firewall status:
netsh firewall show opmode
You can find more information on configuring the firewall on Microsoft's official website, for example here, or via search engines. If you would rather not dig into it yourself, you can ask our administrators to help you configure the firewall; a support request costs only 5 EUR.
Please note: some ports are blocked on our side!
